Water-to-Market Activity
On March 27, 2006 the Government of Armenia became signatory to a Compact with the Millennium Challenge Corporation of the United States under which it received a grant to reduce rural poverty through a program of investment and technical assistance to achieve a sustainable increase in the economic performance of the agricultural sector. With almost 40% of the rural population living in poverty and agricultural productivity significantly below its potential, this initiative has the potential to make a major contribution to the reduction of poverty in the economy as a whole. The MCA –Armenia ( www.mca.am ) has developed several projects to address the issue, one of them being Water-to-Market Activity http://www.wtm.am/
